LC-IMPACT is an acronym for development and application of environmental Life Cycle Impact assessment Methods for imProved sustAinability Characterisation of Technologies.

LC-IMPACT is a FP7 funded project which addresses the recommendations of the EULCIA project and UNEP/SETAC life cycle initiative.

Resources, what is the issue?

Resources are scarce, but there are many types of resources, renewable, non-renewable, etc. How do we address the scarcity, which are the indicators we want to measure. These and other questions are answered in WP1.

Toxicity, how can we improve our methods?

Unfortunately many substances are toxic for ecosystems and humans. In WP2, the USEtox model is further developed.

Non-toxic pollutants

The fact that substances are not toxic does not make them harmless. Acidification, Euthrophication, Ozone formation and Noise are important impact categories developed in WP3.

Case studies

Research without practical application makes little sense. All research will be tested in a carefully selected set of case studies in WP4. Several industries will provide important inputs.
